Volunteer Opportunities

Alumni involvement is critical for our Fraternity to continue its great success. Whether advising a chapter, organizing an alumni event or facilitating at a Leadership Academy, you can continue to give and learn from Phi Kappa Tau. Below are some suggestions on how you as an alumnus can remain involved with Phi Kappa Tau.

Domain Director

** NOTE: FOURTEEN DOMAINS NEED DIRECTORS! Chapters of Phi Kappa Tau are organized regionally into groups of two to five called domains. Domain Directors are alumni appointed by the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer to work with those chapters. They coordinate domain conferences, supplement the work of leadership consultants and assist chapter advisors and Boards of Governors. Click here for more information about the Domain Director program.

Chapter Advisor

A chapter advisor serves as a mentor to a chapter. Advisors guide our chapters in every area of fraternity life including recruitment, leadership and day to day chapter functions. Many of our chapters need volunteers in these positions. If you are interested please contact Brent Seelmeyer at the Phi Kappa Tau Executive Offices.

Board of Governors

The BOG is a group of at least three volunteers and three undergraduate members who supervise all matters pertaining to chapter finances and scholarship. The BOG of each chapter is responsible to the National Council and serves as the general supervisory body of the chapter. Most boards meet monthly to review chapter operations and help ensure that the undergraduate members meet chapter expectation requirements.

Educational Facilitator

Phi Kappa Tau is continually in need of individuals willing to lead workshops for our active membership. These include financial management, recruitment, goal setting, officer transition or a general chapter retreat. . Many of our national programs, such as the biennial Leadership Academy, require alumni to work with small groups of undergraduates. These programs are intensive leadership experiences that assist our undergraduates in becoming better leaders not only in their own chapters, but within society at large.

Alumni Associations

Perhaps you know a few Brothers in your area and would like to have a few organized events. What better reason to form an Alumni Association? While a handful of these clubs also serve the advisory or housing corporation role for chapters, most are formed to simply perpetuate the brotherhood of Phi Kappa Tau. One way to do this is by organizing a golf tournament or family picnic. There is no better way to get to know the Brothers in your area and maintain great relationships.
