Taus win legislative and mayoral elections

Republican Barry Mask, Auburn ’78, and John Cosgrove, Florida ’68,
each won separate elections within the past two months.
Mask, a Republican, won a special election for Alabama’s House District
31, defeating Democrat Bobby Payne.
Mask received 59 percent of the votes compared to Payne’s 41 percent.
The seat was left vacant with the death of longtime Representative Jack Venable,
a Democrat from Tallassee, Ala.
A Phi Kappa Tau National Councilor, Mask is a regional development manager
for Thompson Engineering of Mobile, Ala.
John Cosgrove, a Democrat, was elected Mayor of Cutler Bay, Florida . A former
Florida Legislative Representative and past President of Phi Kappa Tau, Cosgrove
will lead Florida’s newest incorporated community. Cutler Bay is located
25 miles south of Miami.
